WHY THE HOMELESS HAVE SUCH WELL BEHAVED DOGS

I've just returned from running a Training Workshop in the USA to read the awful publicity about owners whose dogs have terrorised people and other dogs recently in both Wilmslow and Macclesfield.
I absolutely guarantee their owners 'love' their dogs I also guarantee they have no control whatsoever Why am I so sure? Indulgent owners can NEVER be Pack Leaders and if you are NOT your dog's leader YOU are his follower.
Most dogs in animal shelters are not sent there because of ABUSE. They are there through over INDULGENCE leading to total lack of control.
Ever wondered why homeless people have such well-adjusted dogs? (When did you last see a homeless person being pulled down the road by his/her dog?) Those dogs are rarely pampered but they do get to live like REAL dogs.
'Love' to your dog is providing LEADERSHIP. without which he/she is doomed to a life of stress.
Come and see our working dogs in action and you'll see happy well adjusted dogs doing what they were born to do. They may not smell so sweet after a day of hunting swimming and retrieving but they don't care. They never pull on the lead or walk ahead of us, chase/bark at other dogs or refuse to come when called. Why?
LEADERSHIP.
Your dog is Animal first, Dog second and Pet last. Most dogs we see only ever get to be pets and nothing else. Their owners may be getting fulfilment from the relationship but their dogs certainly are not.
Your dog is NOT and never will be part of your family YOU are part of his/her PACK and you are either a Leader or a Follower.
